Making the world’s videos watchable in any language

Why join us?

At Papercup, we’re doing something totally new: making the world’s videos watchable in any language through the power of AI. It takes diverse people to make this happen because together they make the best things. No kidding – the team speaks 20 languages. It takes people who are comfortable forging a path; people unafraid to own their roles, embrace learning and fail fast. And this only happens in a workplace that truly values people, nurtures their potential and empowers their growth. Creating something that's never existed offers big rewards, best of all – the chance to make your mark. To be one part of a team breaking down language barriers and empowering millions of people to watch content in their own language.

We genuinely value our people, and we don’t just talk the talk. Our frameworks and development principles are designed to advance your career so that as we grow, so can you!

Our compensation principles

Our salaries are competitive, fair, and built to ensure everyone feels valued. Along with performance based raises, we also adjust according to market trends—so if your skill set becomes more in-demand, your pay will reflect that.
Competitive
To show that we understand the value of talent, our salaries are competitive. Based on market benchmarks, we ensure that they’re in the 75th wage percentile.
Data-led
We review our salaries, bands and benefits against the market at least every 12 months, using various tools and data to get the most accurate market picture.
Transparent and fair
We're as open as possible. To promote parity, we publish our salary budget for all roles and make salary bands transparent. You can find these in our job ads.
Market-leading benefits
Including commission (for specific job roles), company equity, 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave, private health care and learning opportunities.

Transparent salaries and career progression

We have five internal bands that outline what’s expected in your role, whether you’re an individual contributor or a people manager.

Work
To make the world's videos watchable in any language, our cross-functional teams work together with clear goals. Each team drives its own objectives. Here they are in their own words:

Machine Learning

For the Machine Learning Engineering Team at Papercup our mission is clear, we aim to build the world’s most expressive synthetic voices.

Product

The Product Team is responsible for building the applications and processes that enable high-quality AI speech generation for dubbing content globally in an affordable and scalable manner.

Engineering

The Engineering Team is building the systems needed to ingest, diarise, translate, generate synthetic AI voices, and output those videos with a human-in-the-loop workflow component.

Localization Operations (LocOps)

The Localization Operations Team is on a mission to meet the quality, volume and speed expectations of our clients - utilising a wealth of localisation and operational knowledge to do so.

Customer

The Customer Team is responsible for the entire go-to-market strategy, from demand generation to account management and everything in between.

People and Operations

We want Papercup to be a place where people truly love to work.

Life

We value work-life balance, so we’re a hybrid workplace with a flexible mindset: we come into the office two days a week. We're big on food – whether it's breakfasting together (resident favourites: rugelach and bagels) or rinsing the office snacks. When it comes to socialising, we're here for it all! Safaris, Center Parcs, 13th-century castles or the local food market.

And yes, we love animals—so much so that dogs are basically part of the leadership team!
Daisy, Barketing Director
Door greeter and guest announcer that can sigh on demand
Harvey, Head of Puplick Relations
Key to engaging attention with upside-down belly rubs
Bessie, the Head of Pawject Managment
Always leaves a buffer for snack and nap time
LiLu, Accounts Pawable Lead
Fur-midable in boosting morale and sniffing out solutions

Balance

We can’t make videos watchable by everyone if we don’t represent the world around us:
We are from 30 countries
The team speaks 21 languages
(it would be weird if we didn't)
36% of the team identify as women♀️
