Cineflix Rights Partners with Papercup to Bring Mayday: Air Disaster to Spanish-Speaking Audiences

Cineflix Rights, a leading global content distributor, has joined forces with Papercup to localize the hit factual series Mayday: Air Disaster for Spanish-speaking audiences across YouTube, broadcast television, and FAST platforms in the US Hispanic market and Latin America.

Why Cineflix has turned to AI dubbing

With an increasing demand for high-quality factual content in local languages, Cineflix Rights was looking for a scalable, high-quality dubbing solution to expand its reach. Papercup’s AI-powered dubbing delivered over 100 hours of Mayday: Air Disaster episodes in neutral Spanish at broadcast quality in less than three month, and the high quality of the dubs enabled Cineflix Rights to expand distribution opportunities across multiple platforms.

Cineflix and Papercup on the partnership

Mike Gould, SVP Digital at Cineflix Rights, praised the collaboration: “The team at Papercup has proven to be an excellent project partner, with a high-quality AI dubbing service we can rely on. We've already secured a new linear licensing deal using their AI technology for local versioning and have successfully launched content across major AVOD and FAST platforms.”

The success of this initial project has paved the way for further localization efforts. Cineflix Rights and Papercup are now exploring dubbing Mayday: Air Disaster into three additional European languages, further expanding the show’s global accessibility.

Jesse Shemen, CEO and Co-founder of Papercup, highlighted the importance of this milestone: “This is just the beginning of our partnership with Cineflix Rights. As we set our sights on global expansion, particularly in Europe, achieving high-quality dubbing for premium content at scale in such a short timeframe is something we’re incredibly proud of.”

The future of localization

Papercup has already helped major media brands, including Fremantle, Bloomberg, Sky News, and Insider to localize vast amounts of content efficiently and cost-effectively. With the rapid growth of FAST and AVOD, AI-powered dubbing is revolutionizing content distribution, enabling companies like Cineflix Rights to compete with streaming giants and reach wider audiences worldwide.
